Melanie – In Service of the Wild
I began caring for orphaned and injured joeys in 2013 while living in a remote Aboriginal community in Western Australia—and I’ve loved it ever since.
In this work, we’re gifted with moments of pure joy and hope—witnessing a joey’s first hops, their milestones, and eventually their release back into the wild where they truly belong.
But it’s not without heartbreak. We face deep sorrow, helplessness, and even guilt as we witness unnecessary suffering and cruelty inflicted on these gentle creatures.
Personally, caring for joeys has helped me process my own trauma. They’ve been a source of healing, teaching me resilience, quiet determination, and the importance of staying grounded. Their strength inspires me to find joy in nature and cherish the bonds we form.
It’s an honour to be entrusted with the care of our native wildlife. The countless hours are more than worth it for the love, connection, and immeasurable reward this work brings.
Every day, I feel lucky to experience the magic of these incredible beings, up close and with all my heart.

Welcome to Home Farm Sanctuary
A refuge of remembrance, truth, and natural resonance with Nature
My name is Joanne Breeze, and the journey to create this sanctuary began long before I knew its name.
I was born in the wheatbelt of Western Australia, under the wide skies of Grass Valley—a land woven with thorny devils, blue-tongued lizards, and bush silence. From early childhood, my life shifted between worlds: one shaped by generationally inherited belief and suffering, and another whispered through the rustle of leaves, the stillness of red earth, and the language of lizards crossing my path.
I am a survivor of Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA). The gravity of this experience shaped not only the contours of my early life but also the strength, intuition, and deep capacity for truth-mirroring that I now carry. My childhood was cloaked in trauma—yet beneath the layers of suppression and pain, my core signal remained: the Light of Truth. Even in sleep, I could not lie. And even in silence, I heard it.
In the natural world, I found refuge lying under the sun with goannas and bobtails as my companions. I discovered the innocence and laughter that my human world had withheld. The nickname “Goanna” was gifted to me not by choice, but by resonance—spoken in wonder as a five-year-old who saw lizards on the lawn and unknowingly named herself.
Home Farm Sanctuary is born of this journey—of walking through distortion and returning to love and truth, of listening to the earth’s song when human voices failed, and of creating a space where others can do the same. It is not just a place. It is a reminder. A sanctuary for those who feel far from home, yet know it in their bones.
Here, we honour the wisdom of the land, the courage of survival, and the sacred geometry of healing. Whether through deep rest, reconnection with nature and our beautiful joeys, or the quiet recognition of your truth—Home Farm Sanctuary is here to hold you, without performance, without masks.
You are welcome here. Not because you fit—but because you feel.
Because your story, like mine, is being honored.

Tony – The Heart Behind the Sanctuary
Here’s Tony with our alpha male, Ralph. The bond between them was truly special—deep, trusting, and full of love.
Tony has lovingly built all the enclosures for our little mob, along with a cosy chicken run complete with shelters to keep everyone warm and safe during the cold winter months.
He’s the quiet strength behind Home Farm Sanctuary—the backbone of everything we do.

Daniel – A Natural Carer with a Gentle Heart
Daniel has always had a natural gift for nurturing and loving every orphan that’s come into our care. Over the years, he’s helped raise many joeys and still enjoys staying involved with our little mob—especially feeding time and bonding with the new arrivals as they grow, heal, and prepare for life back in the wild.
He was also my loyal partner on countless trips in the ute, collecting natural resources—like armfuls of their favourite treat, woolly bush.
Daniel's quiet dedication and gentle presence continue to be a treasured part of the sanctuary.

Jessica – A Gentle Soul Behind the Lens and in the Field
Jessica has been raising joeys since she was young, growing up surrounded by the sanctuary’s rhythm of care and compassion. She has a naturally gentle, loving way with every orphaned or injured joey and wildlife that comes through our gates—from rehabilitation to release.
Today, Jessica is also our talented photographer and the creative mind behind our promotional material, helping us share the heart of Home Farm Sanctuary with the world.
Together with her husband Josh, Jessica is now passing on that same love and respect for animals to their children—raising the next generation with tenderness and care for all living beings.
